THE MRS. & THE MISTRESS, co-written and co-produced by Crystal Tennille Irby, Kat Magill aka Simply Kat (Founder of Say Word LA), and Thea Monyee (founder of CANVAS), is a spoken word stage play which confronts the relationship between wives and the other women, drawing back the veil of judgment and shame to reveal the ties that bind these women together, excluding the men they share. Shared through the sharp-edged word play of contemporary spoken word poetry, along with the comfort of music and laughter, The Mrs. and the Mistress goes where most are too afraid to venture, and discovers the unexpected. Healing.
AN UNTITLED RECONSTRUCTION PLAY is inspired by the testimony of residents of Spartanburg County, South Carolina, on the activities of the Ku Klux Klan in 1871. The play was created by Anna Abhau Elliot and is made up of excerpts from the Federal Joint Select Committee's investigation, as well as history, memoir, and poetry written by the cast.
